1.       Teams must report to the arena for their first game 45 Minutes before game time and coaches must report to the control desk to sign game sheets.

2.       All teams must be prepared to play 15 minutes prior to the scheduled game time and excessive lateness without a legitimate excuse will forfeit the game to the opposing team.

3.       Play will be governed by the rules of the Hockey Canada, OMHA and OMHA tournament regulations with the following provisions. 

4.       BODY CHECKING IS NOT ALLOWED 

5.       No protests will be accepted. The tournament committee’s decision will be final.  

6.       The tournament will consist of a Novice, Atom, Peewee and Bantam division structured as follows: 

Novice Division: The Novice division has twelve teams. Each team will play three of the twelve teams in their division in a round robin format. At the end of the round robin, the standings will be counted with the fifth through twelveth place teams being eliminated.  The fourth place team (visitors) will play the first place team (home) in one semi-final game and the third place team (visitors) and the second place team (home) will play the other semi final game. The winners of the semi-final games will advance to the Championship game and the losers of the semi-final games will be eliminated.  The home team for the Championship Game will be the team that finishes highest in the standings during the round robin portion of the tournament.  

Atom Division: The Atom division has ten teams. Each team will play three of the ten teams in their division in a round robin format. At the end of the round robin, the standings will be counted with the fifth through tenth place teams being eliminated.  The fourth place team (visitors) will play the first place team (home) in one semi-final game and the third place team (visitors) and the second place team (home) will play the other semi final game. The winners of the semi-final games will advance to the Championship game and the losers of the semi-final games will be eliminated.  The home team for the Championship Game will be the team that finishes highest in the standings during the round robin portion of the tournament.

 Peewee Division: The Peewee division has ten teams. Each team will play three of the ten teams in their division in a round robin format. At the end of the round robin, the standings will be counted with the fifth through tenth place teams being eliminated.  The fourth place team (visitors) will play the first place team (home) in one semi-final game and the third place team (visitors) and the second place team (home) will play the other semi final game. The winners of the semi-final games will advance to the Championship game and the losers of the semi-final games will be eliminated.  The home team for the Championship Game will be the team that finishes highest in the standings during the round robin portion of the tournament.

 Bantam Division: The Bantam division has eight teams. Each team will play three of the eight teams in their division in a round robin format. At the end of the round robin, the standings will be counted with the fifth through eighth place teams being eliminated.  The fourth place team (visitors) will play the first place team (home) in one semi-final game and the third place team (visitors) and the second place team (home) will play the other semi final game. The winners of the semi-final games will advance to the Championship game and the losers of the semi-final games will be eliminated.  The home team for the Championship Game will be the team that finishes highest in the standings during the round robin portion of the tournament.

 

7.       Round Robin series standings in all divisions will be determined based on the following:

2 points  = Win

1 point  =  Tie

0 points = Loss

9.       All game suspensions shall be assessed as per OMHA regulations. 

10.    Any fighting major will result in automatic player disqualification for the remainder of the tournament.  

11.    In the event of a five or more goal differential in the last three minutes of the third period. The tournament committee shall have the authority to curfew any games extended unnecessarily due to conflicts between opponents either on or off the ice. Assessment of major penalties, disputes with referees, etc.  

12.    In the event there are teams still tied at the end of the round robin format. The following tie breaking procedures shall take effect. Please review with all your players prior to the tournament:

a)       Total points earned during round robin playoff format

b)       Head to head competition. If applicable

c)       Least number of goals against

d)       Least amount of penalty minutes.

e)       Coin toss 

13.    At the end of regulation time in Semi finals and Championship games if the score is tied, overtime will be played as follows:

a)       Three player shoot out. (Players to be selected at the end of regulation time)

b)       Sudden death shoot out (Original shoot out players cannot be used until everyone has shot)

c)       A player in the Penalty Box at the end of regulation time or removed from the game due to a penalty is not eligible for the shoot out. This does not include a player serving a penalty for another player.

d)       Any team winning in a shootout will be credited with a one goal victory. The will be credited with 2 points for the win.  

14.    There will be two Certified OMHA officials to officiate all Bantam, Peewee, Atom and Novice games.  

15.    A maximum of nineteen players (17 skaters and 2 goalies), and a maximum of five team officials (in accordance with OMHA rules) will be allowed on the bench.  

16.    All players must use OMHA Sanctioned Equipment.  

17.    One 30 second time out will be allowed only in Semi-final and Championship games per team.  

18.    Players much have participated in at least one round robin game in order to qualify for playoff games.  

19.    There will be a “player of the game” medal presented in all games.  One player for each team. The Home team coach picks the visitors player; and the Visitors team coach picks the home team player.  

20.    The Riverside Minor Hockey Association, its sponsors or the Tournament committee will not be held liable for any injuries, damages, or thefts, which take place before, during or after the Tournament. Please respect the privacy of both male and female dressing room, as well as the OMHA dressing room policy. Dressing room #3 on both AM800 and GS rink are designated as the female dressing rooms.

21.    All participants in Final games will receive either a trophy (Champions) or a medal (Finalist). The names of Championship winning teams will be placed on permanent display at the WFCU Centre.
